The West Durham Methodist Circuit is committed to caring for God’s creation through environmental action, sustainable practices and community engagement.

Several churches across the circuit are actively involved in Eco Church initiatives, working towards environmental sustainability while encouraging local communities to care for the world around us.

Willington Open Door Methodist Church was awarded the Eco Church Gold Award in 2025, recognising the church’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, community involvement and environmental stewardship.
